N\u00e9e en Belgique dans les ann\u00e9es 70, Odil\u00e8ne Joa<\/strong> grandit avec une curiosit\u00e9 insatiable et une profonde sensibilit\u00e9. Tr\u00e8s jeune, une gouvernante lui ouvre les portes de la lecture, de l’\u00e9criture, du th\u00e9\u00e2tre, de la danse et de la musique, \u00e9veillant ainsi son imaginaire et sa cr\u00e9ativit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apr\u00e8s des \u00e9tudes en gestion d’entreprise, elle choisit de donner un nouveau sens \u00e0 sa vie en reprenant des \u00e9tudes d’infirmi\u00e8re \u00e0 l’\u00e2ge de trente ans. Les soins palliatifs deviennent alors une v\u00e9ritable vocation, o\u00f9 elle d\u00e9couvre l’importance de la pr\u00e9sence, de l’\u00e9coute et de l’accompagnement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contrainte de quitter le terrain \u00e0 la suite d’un handicap, elle trouve dans l’\u00e9criture une nouvelle mani\u00e8re de prendre soin des autres. \u00c0 travers ses romans, elle raconte les fragilit\u00e9s, les \u00e9lans de courage et les liens invisibles qui unissent les \u00eatres, avec une plume profond\u00e9ment humaine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour Odil\u00e8ne Joa, chaque personne porte une histoire qui m\u00e9rite d’\u00eatre racont\u00e9e. Son \u00e9criture invite \u00e0 regarder la vie avec sensibilit\u00e9 et \u00e0 chercher la beaut\u00e9 l\u00e0 o\u00f9 elle se cache.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bienvenue au Village de l\u2019Espoir, une maison de retraite nich\u00e9e dans un petit village belge, un v\u00e9ritable microcosme o\u00f9 les r\u00e9sidents ne se r\u00e9sument ni \u00e0 leur \u00e2ge ni \u00e0 leurs pathologies.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fernand, 82 ans, espi\u00e8gle et bon vivant, y s\u00e9journe depuis quelques ann\u00e9es. Surnomm\u00e9 \u00ab Papy Geek \u00bb par les soignants, il est appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 de tous pour sa bonne humeur et son sourire inalt\u00e9rable. Sa vie suit une routine paisible, rythm\u00e9e par les repas servis ti\u00e8des, les programmes t\u00e9l\u00e9vis\u00e9s et le quotidien d\u2019un personnel \u00e9puis\u00e9 mais d\u00e9vou\u00e9.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019arriv\u00e9e de Simone, \u00ab la Duchesse \u00bb.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Install\u00e9e en r\u00e9sidence-services, elle d\u00e9fend avec force son autonomie, sa dignit\u00e9 et sa libert\u00e9 de choix. Son caract\u00e8re affirm\u00e9 bouleverse rapidement l\u2019univers tranquille de Fernand. Tous deux s\u2019\u00e9vitent autant que possible\u2026 sauf lors de l\u2019incontournable partie de cartes de l\u2019apr\u00e8s-midi.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans ce petit monde o\u00f9 la vie bat son plein, un d\u00e9but d\u2019incendie survient \u00e0 l\u2019approche du r\u00e9veillon de No\u00ebl\u2026 Enferm\u00e9s ensemble malgr\u00e9 eux dans un huis clos inattendu, Fernand et Simone se retrouvent contraints de se d\u00e9couvrir autrement. Peu \u00e0 peu, les confidences remplacent les piques ; chacun d\u00e9pose ses blessures, ses regrets et son histoire\u2026 laissant na\u00eetre une complicit\u00e9 touchante qu\u2019ils n\u2019attendaient pas.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais lorsqu\u2019un vol est commis dans l\u2019\u00e9tablissement, Fernand est accus\u00e9 \u00e0 tort. La Duchesse, d\u00e9\u00e7ue, le rejette brutalement.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pourtant, ni la vie ni le personnel ne semblent pr\u00eats \u00e0 laisser ce duo insolite se d\u00e9faire sur un malentendu.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
